Day 41/61

Philippians 4:10-23

vs 10-13 Paul rejoices greatly in the Lord because he has learned to be content in all circumstances. Whether lacking or in plenty, whether hungry or full, he can do "all things through Chris who strengthens me." But it is only because of the strength Christ gives him. Paul can accomplish nothing on his own.

vs 14-19 Paul shows his thanks for the Philippians for being the first church to give to him and the ministry and reassures them that God will meet their needs.

vs 20 Amen

vs 21-23 closing of the letter to Philippi.

Day 40/61

Philippians 3:17-4:9

vs 17-21 Join together in following this example. Take notes from others you see living this example. Be careful who you are following. They may only have earthly matters on their mind. It is God who will transform us to be like Him.

4:1 Stand firm in the Lord

vs 2-3 we work together in the cause of Christ.

vs 4-7 Rejoice in the Lord! Rejoice in the Lord! Paul said it twice so I thought I should. Repetition is used for a reason.Paul wants you to remember this. Be gentle. Do not be anxious.

vs 8 "Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy, think about these things."

vs 9 put these things into practice.

Day 39/61

Philippians 3:1-16

vs 1-Rejoice.

vs 2-6 Do not put confidence in the flesh. Rather put it in Christ.

vs 7-10 Every thing is a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Jesus as Lord. Everything is considered rubbish/ garbage compared to knowing Christ.

vs 11 "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection."

vs 12-16 We press on to the goal of perfection. So I forget about what is behind and strain to what is ahead.

Day 38/61

Phil 1:27-2:18

vs 27-30 conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.

2:1-11 Quite possible my favorite scripture ever.

2:1-4 be like minded with Christ. Have the same love, spirit and purpose. Do not be selfish, be humble. Look to the interests of others.

vs 5 Attitude should be the same as Jesus Christ.

Explanation of Jesus attitude
vs 6 Jesus did not consider himself equal to God.
vs 7 made himself nothing (lowered, humbled)
nature of a servant (washing disciples feet)
human likeness (came from heaven to be like us)
vs 8 obedient to the point of death (not my will but yours)

Reward for Christ's attitude
vs 9 God exalted him to the highest place, name above every name.
vs 10 every one will bow to Christ
vs 11 every tongue will confess

vs 12-13 Work out your salvation- God will work in you.
vs 14-18 Do not complain, so that you will become blameless and pure.
May my life be an offering

Day 37/61

Phil 1:3-26

vs 3-11 Here you can see Paul is fond of the Philippians. He encourages them in their walk with Christ. He then prays for them. Their knowledge and insight will grow so they will be able to discern the will of God.

vs 12-14 He is writing to them from prison. But he is still encouraged because he gets to share Christ with every one in prison, and other people have stepped up to take his place to speak the Word of God.

vs 15-18 Christ needs to be preached.

vs 19-26 Paul has reached a point in his where his life he has given everything up to preach the gospel. It might mean his life but he is okay with it, because he knows he has lived the way God wanted him to. "To live is Christ and to die is gain."

Day 36/ 61

Ephesians 6:10-20

There are many things in the world trying to destroy our relationship with Christ. This is why we have an armor to put on to help protect us from these dangers.

vs 10-13 Be strong, put on the armor of God.

vs 14-17 Belt of truth- Stand firm in the truth, the word of God
Breastplate of righteousness- following God with right decisions
Shoes of Peace- take you to the right places
Shield of faith- to help protect you
helmet of salvation- proclaim what Christ has done in your life
sword of the Spirit- Word of God

vs 18-20 Prayer is what we need to lean on in good and bad times. Remember to pray for me.

Day 35/61

Ephesians 5:21-6:9

vs 22-24 this discusses the different relationship with the husband and the wife and Christ and the church.

vs 25-33 husbands need to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Christ sacrificed everything as we should as well. present your wife in a loving and honoring way.

6:1-3 Children, obey and honor your parents. Do this and you may enjoy long life on the earth.

vs 4 Parents love your children. Bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

vs 5-9 Slaves/ employees, Obey, work, serve, whole whole heart. Masters/ bosses treat them in the same way.

Reading 35/61

Ephesians 5:1-20

vs 1-2 imitate God as children do there parents. If you follow what God does you will definitely be headed in the right direction. Love as Christ loved. He gave himself up for a sacrifice.

vs 3-7 As God's chosen and holy people we need to live above reproach. We need to be pure and sexually moral. Live without greed. There should not be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking. Instead be thankful. None of this has a place in the kingdom of God.

vs 8-14 live in the light, rid self of darkness. The darkness will eventually be exposed by the light.

vs 15-18 Make the most of your life and live in the wisdom of God. Find out what the Lord's will is. Fill yourself with God's Spirit rather then the things of the world where you are trying to find fulfillment.

vs 19-20 Use different ways to worship the Lord always giving thanks to him.

Day 34/61

Ephesians 4:1-16

You might notice an extra day in the title. I added it because I could not imagine skipping over this chapter.

vs 1-6 Live a worthy life; be humble, patient, bearing with one another in love. Keep united through peace.

We are one body, with one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism

vs 7-8 God has given each of us grace.

vs 9-13 We are all called to something. As we make God the Lord of our lives he will reveal to us His plans for us.

vs 14-16 We need to stand strong to faith. Not believing what ever deceitful teaching that might come our way. Christ supports the whole body as each part does its work.

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Day 33/60

Ephesians 1:15-2:10

vs 15-18 I give thanks and pray for you. I want you to know God better.

vs 19-23 God's power is great. He is in control. The church is His body (the fullness of him.)

2:1-10 You were dead in sin, at one time we were all there. But because of God's love and mercy, He made us alive with Christ. This salvation came through grace. This is a gift from God, not by works, yet we were created to do good works.

vs 3-6 Praise God for His blessing, holiness and love. He has given us all salvation.

vs 7-10 Redemption, forgiveness and grace have been given to us freely.
