vs 5-7 It is the baptism that shows we are united with Christ. We die as we are laid back in the water. We are cleansed, and we raise again as we are brought to new life.
8-14 Now it is time to live together for Christ. Since Christ already battled death and won it is impossible for Him to die. In the same way our old selves have died and we are now alive in Christ. So do not offer your bodies to sin, but rather to God. Sin will not be our master.
15- 18 For the second time Paul asks if we should sin because we are under the grace of God rather then the law? His answer, no. We are no longer slaves to sin. Who or what do we obey. Whatever we obey, we are slaves to. We have been set free from sin.
19-23 The benefit of becoming a slave to righteousness and God, leads us towards holiness and eternal life. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life."
