vs 1-6 Know who is a robber and who is a shepherd.
Shepherd
1. uses gate
2. sheep listen to his voice
3. leads them out of the pen
4. sheep follow him
Stranger/robber
1. sheep do not listen to their voice, they do not recognize it.
2. climbs over the fence
vs 7- 21 Jesus tells the disciples he is the...
1. gate- who ever enters through me will be saved- there is protection in the pen.
2. good shepherd- lays down his life for the sheep, know the sheep and they know me, listen to his voice
vs 10 "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full." This is one of my favorite verses and one we will discuss in length in two weeks at youth group. Follow Christ and you will be able to have an abundant life. The thief is only looking for his own needs. Yet Jesus is looking out for you.
vs 22-39 This is a story extending from the first half of ch. 10. Jews ask him if he is the Christ. But he tells them that he has already told them but he did not hear Him because they are not his sheep and they did not listen to his voice. And he responds that He and the Father are one. This is blasphemous for the Jews because they do not put man as equal to God. They do not see Jesus correctly. So they pick up stones to stone him, and Jesus escapes their grasp.
vs 40-42 many believed in Jesus.
